WHAKATANE MEN’S CLUB The qualifying rounds for the Club Championships were completed last Saturday and the following is the draw for the first round of match play to be played next Saturday:— Seniors: Connell v Carter; Ducker v Steel; Pattison v D. Morpeth; Hyland v Spence; Burstall v Milne; D. Luxton v Syme; A. Morpeth v A. P. Smith; Hockin v Cradwick. Intermediates: Dawson v Alexander; Tomlinson v Harvey; Moore v Barry; Denham v Campbell; Wylds v Spring; Suckling a bye; Bridger v Akel; L. B. Smith v Littlejohn. Juniors: B. Butler v White; M. Stubbs v R. J. Smith; D. Hay v D. Wilson; Corbett v King; Bushett v Sharkey; Stone v L. B. Hay; Turnbull v Winstone; Le Pine v Sloane. The Captain’s trophy for the best nett score was won by N. Ducker with a score of 141 and the best gross score of 160 was returned by Connell.

The Intermediate and Junior qualifiers were headed by E. T. Dawson and B. Butler with scores of 179 and 192 respectively. The team to play Rotorua on Sunday will be published in Friday’s paper and all members participating are asked to bring a plate for afternoon tea.

Following is the draw for a Bogey competition to be played this week: Thursday: Mrs Thomas and Mrs Moulden; Mrs Goodwin and Mrs Balfour; Mrs Caldwell and Miss Knight; Mrs Hutton and Miss Linsell; Mrs A. P. Smith and Mrs McBride; Mrs Cannell and Miss Murray; Mrs Burr and Mrs Linsell. Sunday: Miss Walker and Mrs Balfour; Mrs Anderson and Mrs Goodwin.

The September Medal resulted:— ! B’ Grade: Mrs Thomas 105—19—96; Mrs Moulden 122—36—96. Mrs Thomas won on the count back. ‘C Grade: Miss Murray 123.
