BAY OF PLENTY MEETING

ATTENDANCE RECORD

Another attendance record was established on Saturday night when the annual meeting of the Bay of Plenty electorate committee of the. National Party was held in the National Club rooms, Gisborne. Mr F. J. Short, Opotiki, presided, delegates being present from all the branches near Gisborne from the East Coast, Matawai, Otoko, Whatatutu, Te Karaka, Opotiki and Whakatane.. The chairman's, annual report referred to the growing appreciation of the services to the electorate of Mr W. Sullivan, M.P., and to the growth of the organisation throughout the electorate. During the evening addresses were given by Mr H. Walters, chairman of. the South Auckland division, Mr W. Sullivan, and Mr W. J. Broadfoot, M.P. for Waitomo, the speakers dealing with various aspects of the National Party organisation and with the political situation. Mr Short was re-elected electorate chairman, and other officers and delegates to the division and the Dominion conference were appointed. At the conclusion of the meeting the visitors were entertained to supper by lady members of. the Gisborne. branch.
