Booth for Absentee Voters Arrangements have been made for a special polling booth in the Whakatanc' Borough Council Chambers on Saturday next (election day) for the benefit of absentee, soldiers and other voters. Persons who fall into this category are asked to make a point of remembering this. Appeal Upheld' The appeal of Leo Trevor Simpson, for whom Mr Barry appeared was upheld at the sitting of the Industrial Manpower Committee held at. Whakatane last Tuesday. Simpson who had been posted to the factory of Messrs Gough Gough and Hamer engineers,, of Rotorua, had already served 2 years with the armed forces and had been released from the army to work at Armstrong's garage. He was now grade 111 and a medical certificate showed him to be in a state which should normally prevent him from working at all.
Postponed Auction Sale The postponed auction sale of furniture and effects on account of Mr A. Murray, Opouriao, will be held on Wednesday the 29th September. Particulars are advertised in this issue by Messrs A. J. Canning and Co., Auctioneers. Bay Electoral Rolls A total of 9701 names appear on the Bay of Plenty electoral rolls for the. 1943 general election. Names of electors on the supplementary roll number 799, the number on the main roll being 8902. The roll is slightly smaller than the roll printed in 3938. It. is anticipated that approximately 2000 more electors will vote in the Bay on Friday than at the by-election which resulted in the return of the National candidate, Mr W. Sullivan.
