PUBLIC NOTICE WHAKATANE BOROUGH COUNCIL Notiec is hereby given that the Whakatane Borough Council pursuant to its powers under the provisions of Sections 77,. 79, 80 to 90, 96, 99 and 100 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the Rating Act, 1925, Section 52 of the Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act, 1926, the Locate Bodies. Loans Act 1926 and all other poAvers enabling it in that liehalf, intends at a meeting of the Council to be held on Monday, May 24, 1943, at. the Council Chambers, Commerce Street, Whakatane, to» make ami levy the following rates and fees viz:—A consolidated rate of 1/6% d. in the £ in lieu of the following—General rate of in; the £, Hospital and Charitable Aid rate of 4 1 / id in the £, Street. Lighting rate of .5d in the £~ special rates to provide interest and sinking fund etc. on" loans raised only on land within the Borough pledged as security for the same (a) Conversion Loan of £72,970, 4d in £, Conversion Loan of £25,520., 3d in £. Each of the foregoing rates to be for the period from April 1, 1913 to March. 31, 1944 and to be levied on all the rateable property in the Borough of. Whakatane as appearing in the Valuation Roll at present in force, upon the basis of Jhe unimproved value. Also, for the same period to collect on behalf of the Whakatane County Council a spe- ' ci'al rate, of 1.125 d in the £ to provide interest and sinking fund, on the Whakatane County Conversion No. 2 £76,295 Loan, on land within the Borough pledged as security for the same. Also for the same period to levy a - uniform sanitation fee of £2 5s 6d per pan in respect of the -cmoval of nightsoil. Also the Council intends at the meeting abovementioned, pursuant to the previsions, of Sections 84 and 85 of the Harbours' Act, 1923, to make and. levy for and on behalf of the hakatane Harbour Board a special rate of %d in the £ to provide interest and. sinking fund on the Whakatane Harbour Board Conversion Lquu of £65,300; such rate to be for the period from October 1, 1942 to September 30, 1943 and to be levied on all the rateable property in the Borough of Whakatane. which area forms a part of the Whakatane Harbour' Board's district, as -appearing in the Valuation Roll ofl the Borough of Whakatane at present in force, on tlu *>asis of the unimproved value. Further, pursuant to the' provisions of Section 70 of the Rating Act 1925, that, a penalty of 10 per cent be added to all rate? re- , maining unpaid after six months and fourteen days from the date of demand.
