MAORIS IN TROUBLE
• CASES AT TANEATUA MAINLY DUE TO DRINK As the result of their behaviour in the street at Taneatua four Maoris named. Pita Te Pairi, Sam Hori, Rehu Pei and Turae Clark, appeared before Messrs Moody and Hayward, Jus-' lices, at Taneatua on the 23 1 42 charged with behaving in a disorderly manner. All pleaded guilty and were lined £2 each. Another native Joe Paul, otherwise known as Rangiaho, was arrested on Saturday evening for creating a disturbance in one of the local shops, lie appeared before Messrs Moody and Hayward, charged with being drunk and disorderly and with using obscene language, he was fined £10 for using the language complained of and convicted, and discharged on the less serious charge. Also (Mi Saturday night Mike Tiopira of Waimana was also locked up for being disorderly whilst drunk by the policeman at Taneatua, his case was also brought before the same Justices who lined him £5.
