WHAKATANE CLUB

MEDAL HANDICAP RESULTS All 18 hole Medal Handicap was played last Saturday by the members of the Whakatane Golf Club. This was the first round of a 3G hole Eclectic Handicap competition. The second round, another 18 hole medal Handicap, will be played next Saturday, May 9 inst. Different partners wild be arranged by the captain at the Clubhouse, as players arrive. Littlejolin, with a Hying start, leads the field—managing to head off our old stagers—Powdrell, Henderson and Campbel'l. His 89 less 18 giving him a nett 71—1 below S.S.S. thus giving him the honours in the Medal Handicap. Can he prove his staying powers and si ill head oil' the strong field in his wake? The question will be proved next Saturday on the course—where he could prove again that a 4 at No. 10 is easy even after being out of bounds. Following are the results: Littlejolin 89, 18, 71; Powdrell 79, 6, 73; Anderson 86, 13, 73; Campbell 91, 18, 73; Henderson 87, 13, 74; Dawson 91. 16, 75; Suckling 87, 11, 76; Luxton 86, 9, 77; Syme 96, 19, 77; Rangi 85, 7, 7S; Stone 102, 22, 80; Winstone 110, 26, 84. The trophies at stake next Satui day will be a medal handicap and captain's trophy for the Eclectic Handicap. The weights declared above will give no indication as to the ultimate winner. The field is a strong one. and the question will be open till the last man comes in on the day. The nineteenth will hum with stories more elastic than fishing ones. That will "be" the day. A chart of the individual efforts of the players will be posted at the clubhouse. A study of the same will be of immense value to the players concerned.
