AUSTRALIAN CASUALTIES
Australian casualties in the Malaya and Singapore campaign were the highest the A.I.E. lias suffered so far in this Avar. It is known that 287 officers and men were killed in action or died be lore the real battle for Singapore began. Since then. 16,714 officers and men have not been accounted for, making the l total known casualties 17,031, including prisoners of war. Middle E!a-st casualties totalled 13,335, including the campaigns in Libya. Greece, Crete and Syria.
