AUCK LA XD CONFERENCE OUTCOME
Major C. R. Wilson who last week attended the special service conference of Home Guard representatives in Auckland, reports that the outlook now can mos't definitely be described 1 as infinitely more hopefuil. "Army is behind us to the utmost," said Major Wilson, "whiles I cannot say a great deal, I want to assure Guardsmen in this area that things are far more promising' than a month or two ago. The guard is becoming recognised as an important military force for defence and will not be neglected 1 . In view of so many previousi disappointments I would not risk making the above statements were I not certain in myself that they would be fulfilled,' * He added that training would be maintained along the more serious lines including night and' day manoeuvres which would be carried out on lines resembling those as near as possible, war conditions.
