The main business "was the matter of the change of name, and it was resolved the name of the Association should be "The Wliakatane Returned Services Association" this » means that a prospective' member must have served overseas in any war waged by the Crown, not necessarily in the Army, he could have served, in the Air Force, Navy or Nursing Sei'vices, this opens up quite a large scope, and entitles any person that has served overseas in any of His Majesties forces becoming a member. The chairman remarked that he was very pleased to welcome the new * members of the 2nd N.Z.E.F. to the membership roll, and was looking forward to the time when they would all be home, and able to join up with their Association, which the Old Diggers are keeping alive for j their benefit. The matter of refugees coming into this country and obtaining good positions to the detriment of the men now serving was being very carefully watched by the Association. 4 The president expressed the Association's appreciation to all those who had made donations of cash and cattle also all those who had so ably asisted with the Poppy Day appeal j this year, although the actual figures had not been available, the appeal this year would be equally as good as last year, and even a little better, as it is for the bene- 1 fit of the boys now serving that the Association is appealing, so that when they all arrive back, we can be in the happy position of giving them the necessary assistance which they may require. Jtk A hearty vote of thanks was ex- JJP pressed to the ladies who so ably J assisted at the luncheon served at / i the Winter Show Buildings for the \ benefit of the country members and ' their wives and families.
