Christmas is Coming
Preparations for Holidays Shopping Season Approaches \ \ \ IT is hard to realise that Christmas is but a short five weeks distant. Already the festival which cannot be denied in spite of war conditions, has made itself felt. The shops are displaying their holiday and gift season's goods for the happiness of Christmas will be a tonic in the midst of the worry and strain brought about by the terrible conditions ruling overseas. The spirit of Christmas is too deeply engrained in our nature to be overlooked or ignored. It will be observed this year as ever before—with friendliness and goodwill. In Whakatane, in spite of restrictions and limitations the local businesses present a fine display of suitable gifts. Loyalty demands that shopping be done locally in the interests of ones town. We therefore commend to the gift seekers and Christmas shoppers, the patronage of those firms who advertise in this paper.
