MOTOR CAR MISSING
TAKEN FROM MATATA
ANOTHER FOUND ABANDONED
On Saturday night a 1939 Morris 8 motor car was stolen from a garage at Matata and the local Police are still engaged in an encteavour to trace the vehicle. It is painted dark blue and the registered number is 98216.
While making enquiries the police • another car abandoned on the roadside between Whakatane and Matata and are also looking for its •owner. Prisoner at Large At present the police are keeping - a vigilant watch for an escaped prisoner who may have made his way to the Bay. The man at large is named Humphrey and will be well remembered in this district as ■ considerable interest was evoked when, on his way by train to the prison farm some time ago, he escaped and sitole a yacht from Tauranga. In this boat he sailed many miles before being retaken at a small ±>ay on the East Cape. He has again /broken prison and a search ensues.
