Destruction of Deer. Commenting on the destruction of deer, thar, and chamois, the annual report of the Internal Affairs Department states that 48,830' animals; were destroyed, and 12,160 deer skins, and 2725 goat skins saved. In addition, 173 wild sheep were destroyed-*]!! Marlborough, and 48 cats and 314^fa-H^«--Sfewart Island. In the Urewera and Waikaremoana districts 838 deer were destroyed.
