LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual meeting of the League was held in Knox Hall on Tuesday afternoon last. The president, Mrs W. Sullivan, opened the meeting by reading the Rules and Objects.. The usual business was then proceeded with, after which the election of officers for the ensuing year was held. These were' elected as follows: — President: Mrs W. Sullivan. Vice-presidents: Mesdames L. Buddie, W. B. Goav, A. E. Bridger. Secretary: Mrs T. Craddock. Treasurer: Mrs C, A. Suckling. Convenors of Sunshine Circle: Mesdames W. E. Bridger and W. B. # Gow. Link Correspondent: Mrs R. Campbell. Committee- Officers ex-officio and Mesdames W. E. Bridger, R», Campbell, W. Howat, A. Shaw, R. Woolliams, F. Gartshore, M. Hamill and J. A. McLeod. The Rev. H. Hogg then gave a short address on the aims and objects pointing out that these were not ideals, but were within the reach of every woman. He stressed the point that women did not realise the power of their influence in forming the character of the child —otherwise they Avotild not depend on teachers in the Sunday Schools. Bible Clases and Youth Movements for their sole Christian instruction. Mr Hogg was accordcd a hearty vote of thanks for his address. A short programme Avas then contributed by children of some of the members. Pianoforte solos Miss Margaret BigeloAV "Waltz Bohemian'" and "Naila." Songs, Miss Jean Armstrong "When April Sings" and "You're as Pretty as a Picture." Song, Master Terry Warner' "Sons of the Diggers." Character Sketch, Miss Ann Littlejohn "I Ain't a Crying, I Ain't.'" The items were greatly enjoyed by all present. Afternoon tea AA*as served by members of the committee and the meeting closed with the National Anthem.
