YOUNGER WORKERS WANTED

WHILE we commend the splendid work of the Red Cross, the Women's War Service Auxiliary and other organisations assisting with the local, war effort,, we feel that there is a noticeable absence of the younger set in all these groups of workers. It has been pointed out to us that most of the Patriotic undertakings are controlled by the same willing workers who in times of peace were carrying the major share of civic responsibility. To-day, however the call isr to everybody, not merely the soldiers' mothers or the regular social workers who have always carried the burden, but every abled bodied person, be they young or old. There are dozens of young business women who so far have taken little or no interest in any war movement, being willing to allow the other chap to carry the burden, while they themselves continue with their round of pleasure, recreation and. relaxation. More young women are needed to carry the weight of the growing- responsibility of raising funds. Their active co-operation will be welcomed, and they will find that they draw quite a lot of real pleasure from their association and. their effort. With the approaching campaign for funds sponsored by the local Red, Cross Committee, we trust that the younger ladies of the community will play their part.
