THE PIPE BAND
Sir, —I have been following with interest, the letters in your valuable paper by "Wake-Up Pipe, Band" and I have come to the conclusion he should have adopted "Rip Van * Winkle" as his pen name. Till he comes out of his trance,, can I en-, lighten him or. a few faats.. The Whakatane officials know the Banc! was going to Opotiki and should have arranged the parade accord-* ( ingly, viz.: direct to the Memorial where the rendering of "The Flowers of the Forest" would have been ap«» preciated b3' all. The Opotiki parade was properly arranged, first ta the Memorial then to the hall,, the people who were unfortunate not to gain admission followed the service by the aid of a loud' speaker. Opotiki being "Awake" engaged the Band three weeiks ahead, how much notice did the Band get from Whakatane ? I think "Wake up Pipe Band" should have made inquiries before casting any reflection on the Pipe Band, which did its duty when call'ed upon. Yours etcj, SPORRAN. Owing to pressure on space ancft late arrival of copy several letters have been unavoidably lie-Id over until next issue.
