AHUWHENUA CUP
MAORI FARMERS COMPETITION
Mr C. R. Taylor of the Department of Agriculture, Whakatane 1 , has been selected by the Ahuwhenua Trust Board as judge in this year's competition for the Ahuwhenua Trophy—a handsome silver cup presented by Lord Bledisloe whilst Gov-ernor-General of the Dominion, fort annual competition between Maori farmers under the Native Lands Development Schemc. The purpose of the competition is to encourage the* Maori people to become good farmers and useful citizens.
In all' there are nine entrants i,ti the competition this year- and the farms to be judged are located fron* beyond the East Cape through the Bay of Plenty to King Country and then as far north as Kaitaia. Mr> Taylor who set out last Monday oiii the first "stage of his inspections, anticipates that it will' take about; two weeks to complete the work.
Last year's winner of the trophy was Mrs R. Hall of Te T'eko.
