AWAKERI CELEBRATES 11th BIRTHDAY PRESENTATION TO MEMBER The eleventh birthday of the Awakeri Branch ,W.D.F.U. was celebrated in the Awakeri Hall on July the president, Mrs E. A. Haul tain, welcoming members and visitors. The afternoon opened with community singing, led by Mrs Dodunski, with Mrs Fowell at the piano. Two very interesting plays, "The Bitter End'' and "The Mangel Wurzel*' which were staged during the afternoon by Misses Greenup and Howell and Mrs Hopkirk were greatly appreciated. A wall competition was won by Mrs SutclifTe, and musical parcels by Mesdames Watson and Ker. j During the afternoon the president made a presentation of a beautiful bouquet of violets to a foundation member, Mrs Brizzle, in recognition of her services during the past 11 years. After a dainty afternoon tea was served the birthday cake, made by members, was cut by Mrs Sutcliffe, who in doing so conveyed best wishes |.o the branch of the W.D. Monthly competitions were won by: Best Flower, Mesdames Fowell 1. N. McGougan 2, Brizzle 3. Eggless Cake, N. McDonald 1, H. Luke 2. Article from two Skeins Wool, N. McGougan 1, H. Luke 2, Fowell 3.
