CLAIM FOR SEPARATION AND MAINTENANCE WOMAN'S PETITION SUCCEEDS When Minnie Stewart (Mr. B. S. Barry) proceeded against Luke Earl Stewart for separation and maintenance orders, it was stated respondent was presumed to be still in hospital. Mr E. L. Walton, S.M., instructed counsel to continue, indicating that if the orders were made Stewart coukl re-open the case if he desired. Minnie Stewart, in the witness box said she had married defendant on September 3rd, 1981. In ber, 1987, her husband had left her. During their married life he had not supplied her with sufficient money to keep the house going. He used to spend some money on liquor. "He knocked me about," said Mrs Stewart, and added that she had not seen her husband since he had left. Since then she received two payments from him until proceedings were commenced, when he hacjpmid her fifteen shillings a week for the months of June and July. She lived ■i her brother's house but had to buy her own clothes and food. Separation and maintenance ord-r ers were granted, the latter being (ixed at £1 per week. Costs, £3 3s, were also awarded.
