RUGBY FOOTBALL

! RANGITAIKI AND WHAKAIANE TO MEET i . ■ TO-MORROW'S GAME AT TE TEK( i. Meeting in a Hurinui Apanu Shield match at Tc Teko to-morrow Rangitaiki, the holders, and Wliakatane, the challengers, should provide some interesting football, ever though Rangitaiki, with a run of re presentatives matches will have tha experience as an advantage. It will be remembered that when these two teams met in a Parata Cur fixture, some few moons back, they turned on a grand game, with Wliakatane going down 5-8. It w r as two weeks after the Blues had decisively defeated Opotiki 19-8, and the Whakatane lads, were in the best of trim. If Wliakatane had had t'he breeze at all with them in their Rangitaiki engagement the result would have been different. Such is the fortune of the game and the best laid plans of selectors and players are apt to go sadly astray. That also apjilies to public opinion, Avhich at the present time strongly favours Rangitaiki for the Tc Teko contest to-morrow. Though the Blue and Blacks' combination has been strengthened and the understanding between the players made almost perfect by the succession of rejjresentative matcnes, U is quite on the cards that Wliakatane football, in which a new lease of'life was apparent last Saturday, Avill rise to the occasion and halt Rangitailti's glorious runj Whatever the result, patrons and supporters arc assured of a great struggle. Coats off, and may the best j man win. I WHAKATANE TEAM ! TO TEST RANGITAIKI TOMORROW . The Wliakatane team to test Rangitaiki to-morrow has been selected as follows:— Oswald; Old, Thompson, Mitchell; Ropa, Boynton; Morpeth; Moore, Hughes, Cleland, Dodd, Boynton, Robosn, K. Merito, Brown. Emergencies, Backs: B. Hake, Courtney. Forwards: Walker, Yfandle Reneti, Tahaetu. The team w r ill assemble in Wliakatane for lunch and leave at 1 p.m. by bus for Te Teko. Mr W. S. Henderson is manager.
