GLIMPSES OF ACTIVITIES IN OTHER LANDS ASSOCI.ATION SECRETARY'S TOUR A meeting oi' members* of the > Automobile Association (Auckland) f and their friends is to be held in the ■ Parish Hall on Thursday, July 25th, i when in aildtiion to the usual for- . mal business and addresses by officials from Auckland there will be a display of motion pictures in natural colour. The films were taken by Mr R. E. Champtaloup, Touring Manager of the Association during his recent overseas tour, and besides being of interest from a scenic point of view, they are of a highly educational nature, depicting the latest methods of traffic control by directional islands, round-abouts, dividing high- j ways, traffic lights and manual con- | trol. The latest dual carriageways in England, Canada and the United States are among the scenes to be presented, which also deal with camping in California, the Yosemite Valley, the famous Canadian Pacific resorts of Banff and Lake Louise, the Canadian Rockies and Niagara Falls. There will also be a screening of pictures of Norway illustrating sections of country in which fighting has taken place* In the scenes covering Great Britain illusstrations of the Roman Wall are followed by a glimpse of the London Balloon barrage and the 1939 Trooping of the Colour. The A.A. officials are including n special screening for the school children of the district, and this includes coloured scenes of the principal Auckland Province resorts. ' This programme will conclude with a Safety First film illustrating the many dangerous practices so common among school children.
