CONSCRIPTION URGED RESOLUTION TO BE FORWARDED At a meeting of the executive of the Opotiki Patriotic Committee, the following resolution was carried unanimously:-— "In this time of grave peril to our Country and Empire, the Opotiki Patriotic Executive is convinced that we as a people are called afresh to an acknowledgment of dependence upon Almighty God." Further the Executive is'convince ed that the urgent need for intensified action in New Zealand should find expression without delay as follows: — 1. The formation of a Coalition Government as in Britain. 2. The conscription of men required for overseas service. 3. The conscription of the people's wealth as required to meet war expenditure. 4. The compulsory training of both men and women for Home Defence, and as replacements in depleted industry." The resolution is to be forwarded to the authorities concerned.
