RAGWORT CONTROL

THE RUATOKI AREA FORMER STATEMENT CORRECTED Referring to his statements at the recent meeting of the Whakatane County Council, Cr C. McCready, in an interview with the BEACON'S representative stated yesterday that he did not at any time cast, or intend to cast any reflection on the work of ragwort control on the Native Land Settlement Scheme afo Ruatoki. His remarks were confined to criticising the state of affairs obtaining on Crown and Native lands beyond the Scheme area, where hs claims ragwort is flourishing unchecked. These are the lands which are a menace to the lower rivcf flats, not the Ruatoki areas where he agrees thousands of pounds have been spent on eradication.
