COMMITS SUICIDE

ASSAILANT TRACED TO TIKATERE Extending the hunt for T.ukehu, the Whakatane poliec communicated with the Rotorua police at 9 a.m. yesterday, as it was known that his mother lived near Tikaterc and it -was thought that his apprehension would be possible there. The Sub-Inspector in charge at Rotorua and one of the constables stationed there went immediately to Tikatere and commenced investigations. Later the report was received that Tukehu had committed suicide by shooting and lxis death had taken place at about 12.45 p.m. The car, the interior of which was bloodstained was recovered on the road half-way between Tikatere and Tc Teko yesterday afternoon. An inquest will be opened in Rotorua this morning.
