THE SINEWS OF WAR.
THE recent sitting of the Whakatane Primary Production Council produced a spirit of co-operation which if it were adopted and put into practice, would do much more to help the Empire and unite us as a people in rendering a common service while our nation is at war. Drawn from representative groups of farmers, businessmen, Government, departments and working classes, all members were of the opinion that during the years of national crisis brought about by the commencement of the present hostilities, petty differences, political grievances and trade jealousies should be dropped in the common effort to bring about a combined effort to produce more. To be British, was primarily the keynote of the meeting, and many constructive suggestions were put forward as means of spreading this ideal throughout this territory- While we are at war, it would be fatal to show anything other than a united front and the wci'k of the Council will, it is hoped, go far to illustrate that there is a duty to-day to be performed by every person in this favoured Dominion, if we are to be loyal to our kindred and our Homeland.
