NAKED AFFAIRS
Sir, —I, and many others, think it is time that the authorities in town take some steps to discountenance the practice amongst women and girls of going naked or nearly so 011 the streets. Yesterday (Sunday) one or two young women were on parade with clothing amounting to no more than the size of cigarette papers and one luggage label and it is time that some notice was taken by those who control these things. ' I would like to point each section of the community lias the right to be considered and there is no doubt that the disgust, which was voiced yesterday at the impiß dent display oi two girls was evident of the feelings of a large section of the community. It should l be compulsory for women to clothe themselves decently in the streets. We are continually reading of the punishment meted to men for sexual offences and I venture to say that 75 per cent of these offences is brought about by the indecency of the lack of clothing amongst the socalled sporting girls. It is also a surprising thing to' me that here„ the excuse for women getting into men's attire is that it is much cooler than skirts etc. yet in the East where it is really hot the clothing is loose overalls. Then again if the idea of some of the wpmen is to show off the figure what a travesty it is. Nine out of ten of them supply a good laugh at the weird and ungainly shapes of which the human figure is capable. Have fathers and mothers lost all sense of decency or pride in their children that they countenance the brazen exposure of their daughters to the gaze of the public in less clothes than they go to bed in. Yours etc., "DECENCY."
