TOWN BOARD FOR OHOPE
It has been pointed out following the recent article appearing in the BEACON, that the suggestion of forming a Town Board at Ohope may well be followed up. The county,, as a roading authority, has its hands full enough at the present time, without the added responsibility of a growing seaside resort. Although the Government at the present time is pledged to a policy of consolidation as far a local bodies are concerned, the threatened Act, which would cover this .movement has not as yet been passed, Ohope: is, again, an exceptional case, with prospects of becoming a growing problem requiring .full time administration and service. Before a Town Board with legislative powers can be formed, the law requires a definite group of five hundred residents living permanently within a prescribed area. There can be no doubi> that the present population of the beach must approach this figure—possibly exceed it. The matter in any case can be discussed at the. forthcoming meeting at the beach.
