OHOPE AFFAIRS

Sir, —"Pohutukawa" mentions a most important matter, what he calls a humdinger. Those fords. Yes, there are better fords in the Manawahe Bush. I just wonder what that important individual 'The Visitor' will sajr abont our far-famed Ohope Beach and its controlling body, the Whakatane County Council. Then about the 140 acres of pohutukawa bush. It is a shame that nothing is being done to protect it from the danger of fire. This bush: was generously handed over to the Council by Mr Buddie to be held by them in trust and to be taken care of of course. The dry time Avill soon be on us, but there is yet time to cut a fire-break up the gully on the western side. Yours etc., RATEPAYER.
