Discovery of Skeleton, Investigations carried out by the police reveal that a skeleton which was found in the Kaipara Harbour recently is of considerable age, and it is believed tc have come from an old Maori burial ground. The skeleton was discovered by Mr J. _ Stanaway, of Dargaville, at high-water mark at Motukamara Point, opposite Tinopai. Local Maoris believe that the sea has eaten its way into the land at this point and has washed away part of a former burial ground. Only the skull and teeth were in good condition, the remainder of the bones crumbling to dust wlien touched.
