GOVERNMENT TO SET UP DISTRICT COUNCILS CO-OPERATION INVITED On the recommendation of the National Council of Primary Production, the Minister ol Agriculture, Hon. W. Lee Martin, has decided to establish district councils to assist in the promotion of increased production with '■<- view to carrying out the policy recommended toy the national council. Among t lie organisations from which members of the district council will be drawn are: Farmers' Union. Shec.';owners' Federation, New Zealand Workers' Union, Young Farmers' Cllibs. Agricultural and Pastoral Association and local producers' organisations. The chief functions of the district council will be broadly to implement the recommend?! I ions of Ihe National Council .of Primary Production, to advise the national council on local develop ment. and the requirements of local production, farm labour and farm requisites and supplies, and to deal with such problems as the supplj' of farm labour and personnel.
