QUEEN CARNIVAL SOME FINAL FIGURES RECEIPTS AND EXPENDITURE Interesting figures arc given in the balance sheets for the cricket and hockey section of the queen carnival and the winding-up dance. The football section has paid its cash in hand in to the central executive, and the only amounts now outstanding arc those held by the tennis and basketball committee. Some delay is inevitable in this section, as the books for competitions have been sent as far afield as Auck land. Some members of the public criticised the presentations made to the queens, but the cost of these gifts was not born by the fund already in hand, coming instead from the receipts at the dance.. For this reason there was a profit of only few shillings. Receipts at the dance were £36 5s fid and expenditure was made up of £4 17s 9d for advertising, etc., hire of hall £2 15s, £8, decorations £1 19s Bd, supper £4 8s 2d,, gifts to queens £13 15s 6d, novelty dance prizes 6s. The total expenditure was thus £36 2s Id, leav ing a profit of 3s 5d.. The cool drinks sold at the hall were donated by Mr Righton. The receipts and expenditure fo<* the cricket and hockey section show that receipts amounted to £105 15s 2d. The benzine competition brought in £30, the sales of badges £0 7s (id, the concert at Waimana £4 2s 6d, the paddy's market £25 5s 2d, the radio competition £29, the card evening £5, Mrs Grant's competition £2 6s, and the Parish Hall concert £3 14s.
