SPRING CATTLE FAIR
Messrs Dalgely and Co. Ltd. report having held their supplementary Spring Cattle Fair at the Wha-> katane saleyards on Monday, the 9tli instant, when a heavy yarding of run cattle caiue forward.
The bidding was spirited, especially for grown cattle, which sold at well up to late rates. Younger cattle were not in such very keen demand but prices obtained were very satis-* factory as most of the young cattle were rather low in condition.
Buyers came from us far afield as* Auckland and the bulk of the offering was disposed of to outside buyers. A feature of the yarding was a line of 103 4 year old P.A. steei-s? which were purchased l>y Messrs Urquhart and Yates from Karak'i. We quote the following prices as being indicative of values realised through the sale: Four year P.A. steers (for a line of 103) to £9 others £8 15s to £9 ss, 3 year olds Lo £8 15s, lighter and less fofward £8 2s to £8 10s. others £7 10s to £S, 2 year old P.A. steers to £7, less forward £5 10s to £6 10s, yearling steers to £4 16s, fat cows to £6 6s, speyed P.A., cows to £6 4s, other stor-Q; cows £1 to £5 15s, 2 year heifers to £4 15s, 3 year empty Hereford heifers to £4 10s.
