SUNK BY SUBMARINE

The British admiralty announce the loss of the battle cruiser Royal Oak which later reports indicate was torpedoed by a German submarine. A total of Hi survivors have been listed but there are still 800 missing, for whose safety the chances arc slated to be remote. The Royal Oak was a veteran of the last war, and was built 25 years ago. She has a displacement of 29,000 tons and took part in the battle of Jutland. The German press announces the loss with the deepest satisfaction, and with typical exaggeration, adds that the H.M.S. ITood has also been so badly damaged that she will be incapable of action for many months. The Admiralty declare that the statement is in every way false. A further British cargo steamer is also reported sunk in the Atlantic. The crew have been rescued
