WHITE ANTS AT WORK A nest of termites, the dretidcd Australian white ants now establislied in parts of Nesv Zealand, will we exhibited at the Centennial Exhibition. The live ants will be seen carty ing out their depredation to timber under natural conditions. The Dominion Museum Mr 3. T. Salmon, is looking after the insects Avhich were obtained in the Auckland district. They are already established in woodwork between two panes of plate glass. Although the wood is seasoned puriri. one of the hardest and most resistant of native timbers, they are making brisk headway. The utmost precautions arc being taken to prevent their escape or propagation outside their case.
