CRICKETERS MEET

RANGITAIKI ASSOCIATION ELECTION OF OFFICERS The annual general meeting of the Ra.ngita.ik] Cricket Association was held in the Awaken Hall on Tuesday September 12th when delegates from the Paroa, Hjjlcrest, Whakatane and Tancatua Clubs were present. The secretary, .Mr J. C. Howat, presented a lengthy report. Mr C. McCrcady congratulated the secretary on the report and the interest shown in the association. Mr J. Rawson. endorsed hi.s remarks. Mr Howat presented the report and balance .sheet showing ;< credit balance of £17 18s lOd. He recommended that ai donation be sent to the ambulance fund £2 2s being granted, and that a banking account be opened which was decided on. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Patron: Mr C. H. Burnett (re.-clect-ed); president: Mr R. H. Cleland (re-elected); vice-presidents: Messrs K. Dav E. S. Grant, H. A. Horrocks F. W. Raymond, E. Burst all; chairman of committees: Mr L. R. Spring; Secretary and treasurer: Mr J. C. Howat regretted that he could not seek re-election on account of other work but offered to help the incoming secretary. Mr R. H. Cleland spoke of the secretary's work and unfailing interest and moved that a vote of thanks and appreciation be recorded in the minutes. Several nominations were put forward and were declined and finally a deputation consisting of Messrs N. Corcoran, L. R. Spring and J. Howat were to approach Mr H. J. Warren; selection committee:: Messrs R. H. L R. Spring, E. S. Grant; delegates to Bay meeting: Messrs R. H. Cleland, K. Day, H. G. Warren, J. Rawson and Central delegates; auditor: Mr JGraham (re-elected). TROPHY WINNERS. Collins Shield and supreme championship for fifth 3 T ear in succession, Paroa Club. Clarke Shield awarded to Hillercst Club. Allan Cup won by Paroa. Burnett Cup for outstanding player won by B. Keepa of P. and T. Club. The recommendation from secretary's report regarding formation of an umpires association was discussed and it was left to H. G. Warren to convene a meeting, and the drawing out of the programme for the whole season for representative • matches was left to the Management Committee. It was decided to open the season on the second Saturday in' October and to have a, general and management committee meeting on September 26th to make the draw for the season and other business. Discussion took place on Sunday play and players interested were asked to forward names to the secretary BAY MEETING. The annual meeting will be held at Matata on September 17.
