THE WHAKATANE CLUB In the first round of the championships, the following progress results are to hand: — Senior; Cradwick beat Powdrell 6-5. Intermediate: Montgomery beat Good' 7-6. Junior: Morpeth beat Norris 5.4. , The first round will be completed next Saturday, in which Hyland plays Roberts, Napier plays Heclley plays K. Morpeth plays L. B. Smith, Henderson pla\\s Alexander, A. Clark plays Campbell Newman, plays Preston, Littlejohn plavs Moore and Barnv Jelferv, and C. Wilson play off a medal round in three ball formation. The remainder of the club will I-lay a bogey handicap, choosing own partners. The fourball match on Saturday b'St was won by Goodyer and Scaring '2 up, Ivfussctt and A. Clark bring all s'ir.are.
