•SAILING DEPARTURES BARRED An echo of the far reaching precau tions which have been taken through out the Empire in view of the international situation was furnished yesterday in Whakatane, when the BEACON received instructions to 'cease publication of the sailing times -of any vessels .scheduled to leave New Zealand waters until further -notice. The precaution is an obvious -one with an, eye to the possibilities of hostile naval activities in the event of the sudden declaration of war.
