AFTERNOON BY COUNTRY LADIES The ladies from the country pro* duced two plays last Thursday afternoon before an interested crowd of spectators at. the Whakatane Lyceum Club. The first, was called the Soup and the Sav-» cury" by Gertrude Jennings. The cast was: Cook, Miss Greenup: Ada,. Mrs Hopkirk; Emily, Miss D. Boon. The second play was "The Pot of Broth'' by Yeats. The cast was: Joh Coneely, Miss Greenup; Tibby [cbneely- Mrs J. Conolly; Tramp, Miss Howell. Among the audience were: Mesu ,dames F. J. Appleby, W. Bridger, B. S. Barry, D. Pearse, G. Otley, G. A. BraJbant (Senr), W". Sullivai* H. R. Boon, Allan BridL ger, C. Thomas, Keir, J. Morjce.. Misses Whiteside and Allan. ,
