Two first offenders fop drunkenness who did not appear were fined the amount of their bail. As the result of some trouble at Waima,na Joe Biddle also appearedl He was charged with being drunk and disorderly and with using obscene language. Constable Rice said that Biddle had been drinking at Taneatua that day and had return-. Ed to Waimana. He had an argu_ y ment with James Wardlaw in Bell's store and used the language in fronS of a shop full of people who were both Europeans and Maoris ing several women. The Justices took a very serious view of the matter and convicted dnd discharged him on the drujniK and disorderly charge and sentenced him to two months in Mt Eden pa the other charge.
