DISTURBANCE IN STORE r A Maori woman named Mare Mare Te Naiti was arrested for being ao idle and disorderly person by the Tail eatua police and she appeared before Messrs Moody and Hayward, J.Ps on the following day and sentenced to six weeks in, Mt Eden goal. Two first offenders fop drunkenness who did not appear were fined the amount of their bail. As the result of some trouble at Waima,na Joe Biddle also appearedl He was charged with being drunk and disorderly and with using obscene language. Constable Rice said that Biddle had been drinking at Taneatua that day and had return-. Ed to Waimana. He had an argu_ y ment with James Wardlaw in Bell's store and used the language in fronS of a shop full of people who were both Europeans and Maoris ing several women. The language was disgusting and Mr Bell rang lip idr the police. The Justices took a very serious view of the matter and convicted dnd discharged him on the drujniK and disorderly charge and sentenced him to two months in Mt Eden pa the other charge.
