BEEF PRICES LOW The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd", reports a small yarding of beef and a large ?n----try of dairy heifers at Te Teko on Monday last. Prices in the beef section were finn on late rates but owing to the inclemency of the weather, the worst so far this winter, the heifer market was not as good as might be expected. Some very good quality cattle were penped and the best early calvcrs well grown and in good condition made to £9 15s, others from £7 IOS to £8, later calvers from £6 to £7, small and backward from £5 to £5 15s. In the beef and store section heavy fat Jersey cows made friom £5 10s to £6 6s, medium from £4 10s to 15 ss, good quality barren heifers from £5 to £5 9s. OPOTIKI PIG SALE Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd. report having held their) fortnightly pig sale at the Opotiki saleyards on Monday, the 21th instant. An averd'£-> yarding of pigs came forward and values showed a sharp increase on late ratrs. No heavy weight baconers were yarded but several pens of medium bar-oners made to £3 3s, porkers to £2 12s ? large stores to £2 Ss, others 35s to £2 ss, sl'ps 23s to 32s and weaaers Us to £1 0s 6d.
