SIGNS OF GROWING PAINS SOCIAL & CIVIC ACTIVITIES Whakatane's seaside suburb, Ohopc is definitely feeling the effect of growing pains, and the community living there has taken steps to organise its social life, and also to proffer several suggestions and tentative schemes for settling the place as a properly equipped residential area. During the course of a meeting held at the Cabin, the ques tion of eredting and equipping a children's play ground, with the usual swings and other apparatus, for tinbenefit of child visitor,? during the summer was discussed, and will be pursued as a result of a series of card tournaments which will be held weekly. The cartel evenings will take place, on Saturdays and will be conducted over a period of ten. weeks. Suitable prizes will be awarded the lady and gentleman obtaining the high, est aggregate points during the tourney. The Opening Night will take place on Saturday next commencing at 7.30 p.m.. All interested Ohopc? residents arc specially invited to attend .
