FIXED BY AUTHORITY i " BAY f CHARGES i Tariff schedules for cartage in the : Opotiki, Taupo Taurang* . and Whakatane counties have been • fixed by the No. 1 Licensing Auth- ■ ority, Mr E. H. Phelan. They take effect from July 17, 1939, and cover the cartage of fertilisers and general merchandise sheep, pigs, wool, timber, furniture, sand and metal, small goods and miscellaneous items. The general conditions provide that a discount of 5 per cent is to be aL lowed for payment on or before l»ie 20th of the month following the month of service. A rebate of 25 per cent is to be allowed where the hirer also provides a backload, such rebate to apply to the smaller load. This rebate shall not apply to livestock cartage, or t-> cartage on any of the nine routes listed herem over distances exceeding 15 miles. This rebate shall pofc applv unless payment is made on o» before the 20th of the month following the month of service. Where haulage of truck by bullocks or horses is necessitated, an post of 10s per haul is to be distri_» buted over th« charges for the whole load. CONTRACTS. .The right of contract is to be preserved to Government departments, local authorities and dairy companies or dairy associations, subject onlv to the proviso that where the price is considered unsatisfactory by either party to the contract or by the local transport association; then it shall be optional for any of these parties to request that the contract be ic-. viewed by the''licensing authority. Auy part of. a mile over threetenths shall be charged as an extra mile. Unless otherwise the mileage shall be calculated as from the point at which the goods are lobe picked up, to the point at which they are to be delivered. Where "per vehicle mile" is specified, e.g. as for furniture, the mileage is to be ca!_ culated from and back to the carrier's depot. Time is to be calculated to th«> nearest half hour. Where a truck is kept waiting bv the customer 1 or his agent, any wait-* ing time in excess of half an hour is to be charged at hourly rates. HOLIDAY WORK. Work done on Sundays or on Statutory holidays as set out in the Driv ers' Award (Part II) shall be charged- - at scheduled rates plus 33 1.3 per cent. A daily record of the operations of each of his trucks shall be kept by each licensee, and a waybill in accordance with the provisions of the Stock Amendment 1938, ohall be kept in respect of each trip on which livestock is carried.
