STOLE A SHIRT
MAN GIVEN MONTH'S GAOL AUSTRALIAN WITH LONG LIST William Alfred Cyril Ro e f aged 37, a labourer, an .Australian with a lengthy list of about 20' convictions, not all serious, but including burglary and escaping from prison, appeared before Messrs G. A. Brabant and C. G,. Justices of the Pca.ce, at Whakatane on Tuesday morning to answer charges of drunkenness and the theft of a shirt valued at 4s Gd, the property of Bridgers Ltd., Whakatane. Rose pleaded guilty to both offences, which were committed on July 10. Constable T. J. Cummings, outlining the case < said that the police received a telephone call from Bridgers Ltd stating that the shirt had been stolen from the doorway. Constable Hcdlev arrested Rose near The Rock'. The shirt had been taken from him by a member of Bridgers' staff. Rose was more or less of a vagrant type.
