-O NEW RUATOKI MEETING- HOUSE WORK OF LOCAL NATIVE The work of carving the lintels and entrance standards of the new Maori meeting house at Ruatoki we<s under, taken by Mr Tewhen.ua a young man of Ruatahuna, whose artistic skill in reproducing as nearly as possible the original Maori work is beyond doubt a pronounced and remarkable gift. The figures represent the tribal heroes of old and are set out in the old free style of Maori art, being totally uninfluenced by the pakeha ideas which have spoilt so many of ulvi more modern Maori work.
