AWAKERI MEETING
-O— —' NATIONAL PARTY SPEAKERS MR DOIDGE AND MR HARGEST On Wednesday evening a well attended meeting was held at Edgecurabe when Colonel J. Hargest M P for Awarua addressed an enthusiastic attentiive audience among whom was a fair sprinkling of ladies. Mr lan Gow introduced Colonel Hargest, and sa,id how pleased they were to have him address them in view of the long distance he had come for thatpurpose. IVfr Doidge Greeted Mr F. W. Doidge M.P. for Tailran ga, was also on the platform. Mr Gow said the Edgecumbe people were delighted to have Mr Doidge with them again after his recent operation, and to see him looking so fifeMr Doidge said he was looking forward to a busy session in. the House. When he was at the caucus of vhe National Party recently they were a happy, united family. There \va> hard work ahead of them as any rational New Zealander must realise. He had had an invitation from their leader Mr Hamilton a short time before to go south to help the National candidate with a b\*.eleetion in. Can. terburv. He appreciated this honour very much. Colonel Hargest said he was pleased he was to be in Mr Doidge's electorate and the National Party were pleased to have a deep-thinking, successful man like Mr Doidge among them and he would be a great asset on the opposition benches. He was very disappointed Mr Sullivan had not been returned, as he haid looked upon the P>av of Plenty as a sure Na_ (Continued at foot of previous column)
