CHANGED SHIPS IN MID-OCEAN
EXPERIENCE OF -3600 EMIGRANTS (Rec. 8.55 a.m.) London, Dec. 18. Sixteen-hundred emigrants from Europe have had to change ships in the middle of the Indian Ocean, while on their way to Australia. The ship in which they were travelling, chartered by the International Refugee Organisation, broke down and another refugee ship, returning empty to Italy, after landing her own emigrants in Australia, went to their help. The emigrants were then transferred to the relief ship which turned back to Sydney, where she is due next weekend. The other vessel is returning to Aden for repairs.
