Prime Minister in Auckland
Dedication Service For M.P.’s Engagements During Stay In City (P.A.) Auckland, today. Making his first visit to Auckland as the political head of the country, the Prime Minister, Mr Holland, accompanied by Mrs Holland and their two daughters, arrived from Wellington by the 7 o’clock express yesterday morning. Prominent officials of the National Pai'ty and nearly 50 members of the public were present at the railway station to greet them. Mr Holland and his family attended an impressive, service of dedication for members of Parliament in the Auckland district in historic St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Lower Symonds Street at 11 a.m. About 550 worshippers filled the church to overflowing and another 350 listened to a relay of the'service in the dajacent St. Andrew's Hall. In the afternoon the Prime Minister was present at a tea party tendered by the Minister of Education, the Hon, R. M. Algie, and Mrs Algie, at their home in Remuera and last night he had supper with the Governor-General, Sir Bernard Frey berg, V.C., at Government House. An official welcome will be given Mr Holland at a public meeting, arranged by the Auckland Division of the National Party, in the Town Hall at 12.30 p.m. today. He and his family will be the guests of honour at a civic At Home in the Town Hall tonight. Mr Holland will return to Wellington by air tomorrow.
