FIFTH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATED

NEW ZEALAND INSTITUTE OF ELECTRICIANS A most successful ladies night was held in the Lyceum Club rooms, by the Tauranga branch of the New Zealand Institute of Electricians, to celebrate its fifth birthday. The guests were welcomed by the president Mr Willis Faulds and Mrs Faulds. The master of ceremonies was Mr J. Kinvig. Mrs Ducey played a number of well-known songs for community singing and also accompanied Mr Pat Ducey, who sang a bracket of Irish songs. Violin solos by Mr A. Grade, a humorous monologue by Mrs Faulds and a novel acrobatic turn on a uniwheel, undertaken by Mr C. Yorston, were much appreciated. Among the guests of the evening were Mr O. J. C. Ruff, Dominion vice-president and secretary of the Auckland branch, and Mr W. E. Wickham, deputy chairman of the Tauranga Electric Power Board. The birthday cake, with five candles, was cut by Mr and Mrs Couch.
