TASMANIA'S POWER DOUBLED
GREAT NEW DAM NEXT YEAR
The building of more dams and the installation of generators to convert Tasmania's high rainfall into electrical power is beginning to bear fruit.
The Hydro-Electric Commission is now providing 226,000 horsepower, representing an increase of 29,000 horse-power in the last 12 months.
Bl next year the Butler's Gorge Dam is expected to be making a further big contribution, and work will then begin on the River Nive project, to cost £7,000,000.
