DEATH OF ROTORUA RESIDENT
ASSOCIATION WITH MAKETU DISTRICT SISTER OF BISHOP OF AOTEAROA The death has occurred in Rotorua of Mrs Duncan Steele, who had been all her life a resident of that district. She was born at Maketu 66 years ago, one of the family of the late Mr W. A. Butt, and she spent most of her childhood at Ohinemutu. She was active in the work of the ladies' Guild of St. Luke's Parish, the Women's Health League, and various sporting bodies, notably the Ladies' Hockey Asscciation. Her long service as head of the ladies' social committee of the Rotorua Fire Brigade was rewarded about 25 years ago by the bestowal of a certificate of. life membership ox the brigade. Deceased is survived by her husband, four sons and a daughter, Ncrman, Hector, Selwyn, Leslie, and Mrs Clay, of Ba, Fiji; also by several brothers and sisters, Mesdames R. H. Bonnington, Koutu; S. Wildon, Auckland; B. Keys, Te Puke; Mr A. T. Butt, and Mr Edgar Butt, of Rotorua; the Rt. Rev. F. A. Bennett, Bishop of Aotearca; and Messrs H. D. and W. Bennett, of Wellington.
