Failure To Clear Ragwort

Four Offenders Fined In Tan rang a Four property owners were fined in the Magistrate’s Chart. Tauranga. yesterday when they were charged before 'Mr E. L. Walton, S.M., with failing to clear ragwort from their properties in accordance with notices issued by the Noxious Weeds Inspector of the Tauranga County Council, Mr S. J. McKenzie. Evidence was given by Mr McKenzie that he had inspected the land in each case on several occasions and served notices to clear it. In all cases, he said, ‘the ragwort was in an advanced stage of flowering. None of the defendants appeared in answer to the charges. Ngaki Ngatai of Matapihi was fined £2 with costs for this offence. Nicholas Sydney, Katikati, was fined £3 whh costs, while on the other two offenders, Thomas Farrell, of Papamoa and Wehi Honiana, Mr Walton imposed fines of £4 with costs in each case.
